Even though it’s still a few days away, SportsSignup wants to be the first to wish all the Sports Dads out there a Happy Father’s Day! It’s no secret that just about every Dad dreams of his kids going on to professional sports glory (although we know that a double in Little League comes pretty close to the greatest sports moment ever) and we want to thank you all for making sports such an important part of your family’s life.
Often times, Dad is the one who introduces their children to sports at a young age. Without the dedication and passion of Sports Dads, most of youth sports as we know would cease to exist. Did you know that 85% of youth sports coaches are Dads coaching their own kids? These men give up their weeknights and weekends to pass on their love and knowledge of the game to youth athletes all across the country. Some may have been sports stars in their own day, others are just looking for a fun way to get more involved in their kid’s life—whatever the reason they volunteer Sports Dads help keep youth sports organizations running.
To all the youth athletes out there, be sure to thank your Sports Dad this Father’s Day and let him know how much you appreciate all the work he does for you and your team. Being a coach can be a lot of fun, but it’s also a lot of work. Coaches like to know when they’re doing a good job (Dads too), so make sure you let them know how you feel.
To every Dad that coaches, acts as umpire or referee, lugs around heavy equipment from game to game, helps maintain the fields, or just sits in the stands and cheers—thank you and Happy Father’s Day!
