The 2nd annual Freihofer’s Junior 3K Run is a 1.86-mile road race on Saturday June 2, 2012. As a professionally timed race, awards will be given to the First Place girl and boy overall and to the top 3 girls and boys in three age groups! SportsSignup is dedicated to getting kids involved in sports and promoting active and healthy lifestyles among children. Getting kids excited about running is the first step in creating healthy habits that kids will carry with them for the rest of their lives.

All youth athlete participants will be helping other kids with each registration. The “Kids Helping Kids” fundraising campaign will contribute $10 to the Melodies Center for Childhood Cancer and Blood Disorders for every child (ages 9-14) who registers to compete. This cause is very close to SportsSignup’s heart as the five year old daughter of our CEO, Anthony Bruno, is among the thousands of children in the Capital Region that have benefitted from the innovative treatments, exceptional doctors and caring staff at the Melodies Center.

The race registration fee is $10 per youth runner and an adult chaperone is allowed to run along with their youth runner for free. All registered youth runners will receive a box of delicious Freihofer’s chocolate chip cookies and a finisher’s medal and the first 2,000 registered youth runners will also receive a specially designed Junior 3K Run t-shirt.

The Junior Freihofer’s 3k Run will take place on a closed course, and the route will be monitored by Albany Police Department and will be staffed with numerous volunteers and course marshals to ensure participant safety.  Adult chaperones are also allowed to run along for added fun.
